R11. . . this has to have the big players in a panic

"Beautiful piece of kit. Material is solid robust and plush feel to it. It's weighty but hey, it's for winter camps and tbh for r11 it could be heavier but it's not. The price. . . omg, the big players must be in a panic wanting 300 upwards for r7 mats. The warmth ratio here is through the roof by comparison and at a fraction of the price. Highlander really knocked it out the park with this one. I'm just bummed I bought the rectangle one then the next day they brought the mummy style out, but more floor covering equals greater warmth. I can't wait for winter to come around now. Grab one before they realise their mistake and the price doubles or triples. Thanks Highlander. This was indeed, a steal!"

NAP-PAC Arctic R11 inflatable pad

"Delivery was good, information good throughout, especially as the delivery of the goods from the far east was held up in transit! I haven't actually used the product yet, though I do have a good feeling about Highlander as a company, they seem to be on top of their commitment and customer service."

NAP-PAK ARCTIC R11 INFLATABLE SLEEPING MAT

"This mat is incredible. I'e used it three times now in cold climate and as soon as you lie on it you can feel the heat getting sent back to you. Im not sure how else to describe it . . . its like lying down on an electric blanket. One miniscule downside if I HAD to include one would be its almost too warm if its not cold enough outside. I cant recommend this highly enough. Its quiet , not like lying on crisp bags . . . there's no crunching when moving sides or around on it. I'm 14st and I cant feel the ground whilst side sleeping. Its so good I even bought one for her. She loves it too. Amazing product."

I recommend

"I was afraid it was going to make crisp packet noises when i lay upon it, but actually it didn't. I've not taken it out yet to see if the R value claim holds up in real-world usage. Only thing i do NOT like is the in/deflate valve which is a dual-cap all-in-one affair; it makes adjusting for comfort difficult. I would have much preferred seperate screw-type valves. Also I would like to see lashing points to help fasten quilts/bags/fasten to my Helikon cot. For the price I recommend."

Immediately warm

"I'm really happy with this pad. What struck me immediately is that when I tested it, it felt warm straight away when I when I lay on it. Honestly I think the R value is ground breaking so I can't wait to use it in anger."

Valve is Frustrating

"First and foremost, I've not used this out in the wilds yet, but having tested out at home by sleeping on it, I can vouch for the warmth. However, I didn't manage to sleep comfortably due to being unable to pump it up to my comfort. What Highlander haven't said is that using another pump such as my Flextail one is really quite difficult without losing air when you remove the pump. Maybe it's something I'm doing wrong? Two other pump sacks I have aren't any good either, so I'll now have to purchase either Highlander's pump sack or wee banshee."

Impressed so far!

"Bought the highlander because of the highest R value in the world. . . at the price point I thought why not give it a go! Thickness is perfect for side sleepers, my hips/shoulders don't touch the floor so not deadness. It is abit crispy so you can hear foil inside when you first inflate but overtime that noise decreases after more uses, after a couple mins on the mat you can actually feel heat radiating back towards you which is a brilliant indicator of the warmth All in all so far it's been a great mat. The only con I have of this mat so far is when you sit or kneel on it, it can tend to bend and fold up wards either side so you can feel the ground but once you're laid on it and even out your weight distribution it's perfect"

A very good mat, with

"A very good mat, with a good 'eggshell' form when inflated rather than straight lines. It really needs to be bought with the Wee Electric Pump; the two are a pair. Especially welcome is the speed at which the mat can be deflated (by pulling both valves) and the small size it is when squeezed, rolled and packed. Well worth the cost."

RODNEY W. (5/5)

Amazing - but one caveat.

"Ok. First of all I've not tried this out in the wild. I have tried it at home and it's pretty good but with a caveat. It's very comfy. Nice depth to it so you don't feel the floor UNLESS you're lying on your front and you're reading, the elbows push down to the ground. What's amazing about this pad is you can almost feel the warmth pushing up back up your body. Now I don't know if this is a placebo effect or not but I tried to talk myself out of it. I'm pretty sure this is going to do the job. So why 4 stars not 5? Size. The width is never wide enough for me. I know full well when I turn in my sleeping bag I'm going on the floor. Why do manufacturers make them so small? It needs to be at least 12" wider or even double the width. With quality like this people will pay. It's my only regret. If you're used to this size and you need the best mat, this is the one."
